Mickayla Willis OTR
Director of Rehabilitation
Mickayla has a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from Keuka College. She has a strong devotion to the geriatric population and to helping people achieve their highest potential. Occupational therapy is a passion that lives deep inside her and she truly believes that you do not work a day in your life if you are doing what you love. Mickayla started out fresh from college as a treating clinician at Steuben Center and moved gracefully into the Director of Rehabilitation position. Steuben Center is a place that feels like home to her, not only because she loves her job, but because she holds valued relationships with the staff and residents within.
Robyn Baty
Director of Recreation
With an effervescent spirit and a passion for creativity, Robyn thrives as an activities director, infusing every endeavor with boundless enthusiasm. When not orchestrating memorable events, you can often find Robyn strumming melodious tunes on her ukulele, creating an ambiance of joy and relaxation. Her love for nature takes them on exhilarating hikes, where she finds solace in the tranquil beauty of the great outdoors. But it’s the delicate flutter of butterflies that truly captivates Robyn’s heart, inspiring a deep appreciation for the whimsical wonders of the natural world.
In addition to her outdoor pursuits, Robyn is a skilled professional photographer, capturing fleeting moments with an artist’s eye and a storyteller’s soul. Through her lens, she weaves narratives of beauty, emotion, and authenticity, inviting viewers to see the world through a different perspective. Jessica Travis
Director of Human Resources
Jessica Travis has been an integral part of our company for the past 5 1/2 years and is now serving as the Human Resource Director. Her expertise in conflict resolution, recruitment, and staff development has been instrumental in building a strong and cohesive team.
Outside of work, Jess enjoys spending quality time with her family and often hosts bonfires in her backyard. These gatherings reflect her love for creating warm, inviting environments where people can connect and unwind. Jess’s dedication to both her professional and personal life makes her a valued member of our organization and a beloved figure among her colleagues and friends.
Jerry Ortiz
Director of Housekeeping and Maintenance
With over three decades of seasoned expertise in maintenance operations, Jerry, the Director of Maintenance, brings a wealth of knowledge honed through a distinguished career spanning 15 years in the United States Army, coupled with over 15 years of civilian sector experience.
During his tenure in the military, Jerry cultivated a robust skill set in overseeing diverse maintenance tasks, ranging from routine equipment upkeep to complex logistical operations. His military background ingrained in him a strong sense of teamwork, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in high-pressure environments.
Transitioning to the civilian sector, Jerry seamlessly translated his military experience into the corporate landscape. He has demonstrated exemplary leadership by directing maintenance teams across different industries, including manufacturing, transportation, and infrastructure.
Known for his proactive problem-solving skills and dedication to continuous improvement, Jerry has spearheaded initiatives to implement innovative technologies and best practices, ensuring that maintenance operations remain at the forefront of industry standards.
Cindy Blanchard
Food Service Director
Meet Cindy, a compassionate Director of Dietary Services, born and raised in the heart of Steuben County. As an only child, she grew up surrounded by elderly relatives, fostering deep-rooted care and concern for the well-being of seniors. Cindy began her journey at Steuben Center three decades ago, starting from the ground up and demonstrating unwavering dedication to serving the residents.
Through her steadfast commitment and expertise, Cindy steadily advanced within the organization, earning recognition for her exceptional leadership and dedication to enhancing residents’ quality of life. She embodies a unique blend of empathy and professionalism, ensuring that dietary services not only meet but exceed the diverse needs of residents.
With three decades of experience and a genuine passion for senior care, Cindy stands as a beacon of compassion and excellence in the field of dietary services, embodying the values of Steuben Center and enriching the lives of its residents every day.
Ernest Chigama
Director of Social Work
Ernest Chigama is the Director of Social Work at Steuben Center, Bath, NY. Ernest’s educational background includes Masters in Social Work from Temple University and Bachelor’s in Social Work from Mansfield University in Mansfield, PA. Ernest comes to Steuben with 4 years of acute and post-acute experience. Ernest has been with Center’s Health for 5 years. Ernest is responsible for the day-to-day social work events to ensure the best possible resident-centered care at the facility. Ernest believes in an innovative and eclectic approach to care that focuses on both the medical and social models. Ernest enjoys working with other disciplines in improving the well-being of residents and families from different walks of life.
Desteny Reed
Assistant Director of Social Services
Desteny has a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Mansfield University. Desteny has worked with many different populations, bringing a wide variety of skill to the team here at Steuben Center. Desteny has a passion for advocating and ensuring the needs are met for one of our most vulnerable populations. Here at the Steuben Center, Desteny is responsible for a variety of day-to-day Social Work events to ensure the best possible resident-centered care. Desteny enjoys getting to know each resident on an individual level and working close with the other departments here at the Steuben Center to best meet the resident’s needs.
Aleesia Barber RN
Director of Nursing
A local Community college nursing graduate, followed by a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Chamberlain University. She has been working in the healthcare field since 18. Starting out as a CNA and working her way up. Aleesia comes to Steuben Centers with experience in acute/ post-acute care, and care for the geriatric population. She strives to make short-term rehab or long-term care a comfortable time in someone’s life. Striving to make an environment where residents feel at home and as though they were family—because that’s exactly what they become.
Sara Clark RN
Assistant Director of Nursing
Sara Clark is a Registered Nurse. She has worked in the healthcare field for 26 years, with long term care being a majority of that time. Sara started off her career in 1998 just after graduating high school as a certified nursing assistant. From there she became passionate about caring for the elderly and eventually went back to school to obtain first an LPN and finally her RN. During her career as an LPN, she worked in a wide variety of jobs from acute care, to pediatric home care, to pediatric office, on a dementia unit, and then returning to long term care.
She has always exceled in caring for all of her residents needs as well as their families. Currently Sara is the Assistant director of Nursing, Infection Preventionist, and Educator at Steuben Centers. In her spare time Sara is an advocate for her son and others with autism, she enjoys running, and spending time with her family.

Our team also works hard to keep therapies as consistent as possible, tracking all communications through an advanced electronic medical record system. This ensures immediate transmission of information across the entire care network.
