When it comes to ourselves, we can be the harshest critics. Remembering our mental health matters is important; we must stop and celebrate the little things.
Feeling sad, upset, etc., can ruin a day, so Steuben Center put together four things you can do to improve your mood.
Don’t Compare Yourself: There’s a saying, “The grass is always greener on the other side.” When you take out personal factors, and we only see someone at face value, it may seem like they’re perfect. But we never know what someone is going through; they could be worse off. So, embrace yourself and remember the grass isn’t always greener.
Celebrate The Little Things: When going through life, we tend to look at the big picture, so it’s important to stop and celebrate the little things in life. This can be a healthy reminder that life is good.
Be Realistic: Set realistic short-term goals so that you can have a sense of accomplishment. Also, remind yourself that change doesn’t happen overnight. Things move gradually, so take a second to slow down.
Be Open To New Things: Adapting and experiencing new things can open up a world of possibilities and allow you to try something new. Be motivated instead of fearful when it comes to something you’ve never done before.
